krafty kuts

From about '97 to 2000 I was at Uni in Brighton and in my last year or so down there I came to discover the legend that is Martin Reeves, aka Krafty Kuts. A mate had bought Slam the Breaks On sorta on a whim and it hadn't left the stereo since it arrived in the house, so when we heard he played a Wednesday night gig at the Funky Buddha we knew we were onto a winner.

Still recall walking in there for the first time and hearing Gimme the Funk, a classic riff that I'll probably be humming during my last few minutes on this earth. Well, either that or his rip off of the Rocky theme tune.

DJ Shadow - 30th March 2003
What the fuck! Radio 1's website conveniently seems to miss this one out, despite having all the others for this year! Never mind, eh.....

Anyway.... the mix..... well, sort of split down the middle, with loads of hip hop for the first hour and then goes into older, more obscure tracks for the second half. A good mix and a must for any DJ Shadow fan.
